Apartment Cleaning Tips: How To Get a Deposit Back

If you are thinking of searching for a new apartment, one of the first things you should do it begin taking steps to get your security deposit back. That deposit can be up to a month’s worth of rent, so be sure to get your apartment in order before moving out. Here are a few tips.

 

Walls: do not worry too much about worn paint, but be sure to clean any and all dirt spots off the walls. Landlords are responsible for normal wear and tear, but stains are not normal wear and tear.

 

Inside cabinets: this is an area that can easily get overlooked, but the insides of cabinets, (especially under the sink) can be very messy. So be sure to make a checklist with these areas highlighted.
